A Spoonful Of Defense Makes Chicago Go Down

...Makes Chicago go down, makes Chicago go down...

"In every job that must be done there is an element of fun. You find the fun aaaand SNAP! The job's a game!"

The job of defense leads to the fun of wins... AND fast breaks!

Jay Triano may need to recruit Mary Poppins to lead the team in a "Spoonful of Defense" sing-along before every game because it was their 4th quarter D that helped the Raptors rally and put away the Bulls 99-89.

The Raptors were continuing their porous defensive ways, giving up 60 points in the first half off a weak interior defense that led to a ton of Bulls' second chance points. Toronto's offense kept them within striking distance and the Raptors recommitted themselves at the defensive end after the halftime break.

Toronto came out with more energy in the 3rd, holding Chicago to 29 second half points, including 11 in the fourth quarter. They even had a stretch where the Bulls missed 13 field goals in a row, allowing them to fast break and get some easy baskets.

The fact the Bulls were on the tail end of a back to back may have had something to do with it, but we'll choose to ignore that for now.

Chris Bosh had his patented 28 points and 12 rebounds. That was his seventh straight 25+ point game, 2nd only to Vince Carter's team record of 9 straight. Jose Calderon had 18 points and 6 assists. Amir Johnson and Antoine Wright were the defensive energizers off the bench, combining for 11 rebounds and 2 blocks between them. Wright's block was a SICK two-handed pin-down-on-the-glass rejection... And Reggie Evans leads the league in injured guys on the bench that are the best cheerleaders. I mean that in a good way.
