press conference at Raptors Republic
@ Raptorblog: “As for whether I think he can take the Raptors to “the next level”, I think that’s mostly dependent on the players Bryan Colangelo gives him to work with. Honestly, with the exception of a few top coaches like Jerry Sloan, Phil Jackson and Gregg Popovich, I mostly believe that coaches in the NBA are more or less interchangable.”
@ Hoops Addict: “Difficult circumstances could be the understatement of the year. Between dealing with a starting point guard robbed of lateral quickness due to a hamstring injury, trying to incorporate his defensive and offensive philosophies during the season with limited practice time, adjusting to Shawn Marion being added late in the season and the soap opera involving Chris Bosh’s paternity suit, the fact the Triano held things together is a testament to his character and the respect his players have for him.”
@ Mediocre Forever: “So why keep Triano rather than bringing in another mediocre or even a star coach. Well, no matter how a good a coach, you still need a talented roster. What I’ve seem to noticed is that the star coach is what helps push teams to title contention and as the raps are far from contending, its more crucial to change the roster now, and bring in the star coaches to help push us over the edge in a few years. Which also explains the length of his contract.”
What do you guys think? Is he the right man for the job?
