The Rockets responded to the challenge with a come-from-behind overtime victory over the Blazers, 108 – 103, for new coach J.B. Bickerstaff. More on the game later. November 18th NBA Game of the Day (Rockets versus Trail Blazers)
Houston overcame a fifteen point deficit at the end of the third quarter to send the contest with the Blazers into overtime where James Harden took control and led the Rockets to a 108 – 103 victory over visiting Portland. This game marked the first time the Rockets had played under interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff and the victory stopped a four game losing streak for the Rockets. Harden led the Rockets victory with 45 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and five steals. Dwight Howard collected 19 rebounds while Trevor Ariza added 18 points. Damian Lillard paced Portland with 23 points while C.J. McCollum contributed 19 and Al-Farouq Aminu added 16.
