In the game of the day yesterday (Monday 11/30/15) the Bulls gored the Spurs 92-89 in the United Center in Chicago. Chicago used the San Antonio trademarks of team play and balanced scoring against the Spurs as the Bulls placed five players in double figures and outshot and outrebounded the Spurs.
For the Bull’s starters, Pau Gasol led the way with 18 points and 13 rebounds, followed by Jimmy Butler with 14 points, Tony Snell with 12 points, and Derrick Rose with 11 points. Doug McDermott chimed in with 12 points off the bench and Joakim Noah grabbed 11 rebounds. The Bulls four reserve players who entered the game had an incredible +/- average of +9.25! The victory lifts the Bulls record to 10-5 for the season.
San Antonio sank to 14-4 with the loss (still the second best win percentage in the NBA) but the Spurs appear to be a team getting used to each other. The addition of LaMarcus Aldridge to the Spurs lineup has produced obvious and significant results for the team, but, nonetheless, San Antonio is still not quite the well-oiled basketball machine I expect they will be later in the season. Kawhi Leonard with 25 points and Aldridge with 21 led the Spurs scoring attack while Aldridge and Tim Duncan each collected 12 rebounds. However, the San Antonio bench was significantly on the minus side of the +/- stat.
